Frances Audrey Neil

December 10, 1933 — September 22, 2017

Frances Audrey Neil age 83, died peacefully on September 22, 2017, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  She was born and raised in Saint Cloud, Minnesota to Roy and Ethel Neil.  She was preceded in death by brother James Neil, and her sisters Pauline Neil and Joanne Husby. She is survived by her sister Patricia Petrie and several nieces and nephews, and by loving friends of many years.
Fran left the cold climate of Minnesota in 1962 to live in the Southwest including Colorado, Arizona and New Mexico. Several wonderful years were spent working for the US Public Health Service on the Navajo Reservation. She spent many days traveling to the People's homes and Boarding Schools. She lived in Galllup, NM, Tohatchi NM, Fort Defiance,AZ, and Chinle, AZ. She loved the Navajo people and never forgot them and her life there.  The close friendships she formed with her colleagues on the Reservation lasted for her lifetime.
She enjoyed hiking, swimming, and travel in US, Canada and especially Scotland.  She truly loved Scotland and felt that she had come home when she was there.
She did many hours of volunteer work in New Mexico and Colorado at various locations.
She was a graduate of Hamline University, St. Paul, MN and also earned a MPH at Univ. Of Michigan School of Public Health.
