Leonard (Len) Dalton Hubbard

October 5, 1919 — July 8, 2016

Leonard (Len) Dalton Hubbard, age 96, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 8, 2016. Len was born on October 5, 1919 to Florence Dalton and Leonard Francis Hubbard in London, England. He was preceded in death by his parents, Florence & Leonard Hubbard; his brother, Darrell Hubbard; and his wife for many years, Dawn Hubbard.

Len is survived by his brother, Noel Hubbard of Devon, England; his daughter, Susannah McFarlane of Ontario, Canada; his son, Michael Hubbard of Townsville, Australia; his daughter, Alyson Guttke and husband Paul, of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; and his daughter, Andrea Myers and husband Dave, of Rio Rancho, New Mexico. Len is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren of Canada, Australia, and New Mexico.

Len grew up in London, England and had the honor to sing in a Boys’ Choir that regularly performed for the King and Queen of England. As a young man, Len joined the Royal Air Force and served 21 years, reaching the rank of Flight Lieutenant. Len was involved in World War 2, serving all over the world as a flight instructor. During his years in the Air Force, Len married Pat and had two children, Susannah and Michael.

Len retired from the Air Force and made a life-changing move to the United States. He met and married Dawn and their two children, Alyson and Andrea, were born.

Eventually, Len and Dawn settled in New Mexico in 1972. Len became a citizen of the United States in 1974, an accomplishment he was so proud of.

Len developed his own stucco and home repair business called Hubbard Renovation Service, and he took care of many customers until he retired in 1985.

Len’s hobbies included many singing groups at his churches and with Albuquerque Opera Theater and Opera Southwest. He loved being part of the Senior Citizen Olympics for many years, especially enjoying Table Tennis and 800 Meter.

Len’s faith in God was the most important aspect of his life. He was actively involved in Calvary Chapel Rio Rancho for many years until his health declined and prevented him from attending. He took several missions trips to Israel with Calvary and enjoyed sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with anyone he met.

A Memorial Service will held Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Calvary Chapel Rio Rancho, 138 Frontage Rd, Rio Rancho, NM. In lieu of flowers, anyone that wishes may make a donation to the Missions Fund at Calvary Chapel Rio Rancho in Len’s name.
