Manuelita Chavez

On February 10, 2017 our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and "mother-to-many others" passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. This beautiful women left her legacy on this world, and began her heavenly journey. Mela is survived by her one and only love, her husband of 57 years, Adelaido (Del) Chavez Jr. Her pride and joy were her three children: Donald (Anna) Chavez, Dianna (Rick) Ortiz, and Debbie (Paul) Maestas. Her heart continued to expand as her family grew with six grandchildren, Donna (David) Trujillo, Darlene (Cole) Leslie, Danielle (John) Tennyson, RJ (Sammy Navarro) Ortiz, John-Paul Maestas, and Lena Maestas. Her most recent joy included the addition of nine very special great-grandchildren.

By her example, she taught us many life lessons; the greatest one was how to love. Maya Angelou's words described mom's actions best, "...I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Everyone that crossed paths with mom felt LOVE!

A rosary & memorial service will be held on February 20th at 6:00 pm at Daniels Family Funeral Services, 7601 Wyoming Blvd NE 87109. Her Celebration of Life mass will be held on February 21, 2017 at 12:00 PM. This Celebration will take place at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 417 Agua Fria St, Santa Fe, NM. Interment to follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Serving as pall bearers are her 6 grandchildren.
