Martha Elizabeth Whiting

Whiting, Martha Elizabeth
Age 74, passed away Saturday, August 19, 2017. She was born in New Castle, PA on January 31, 1943. Martha was known as Marti to her many friends.

Marti spent her early years in western Pennsylvania, graduating from Wilmington Area High School. She pursued a career in nursing and received her RN from Jameson Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in New Castle, PA. Later in life, Marti continued her studies at the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, earning her Master's Degree in Nursing in 1984. Marti was office manager of Family Physicians of Albuquerque for many years before her retirement in 1998. She devoted her life to the care and healing of others, sharing her warm, loving spirit.

After her retirement, Marti was active in Post-Polio Survivor organizations and the PEO Sisterhood, New Mexico State Chapter. Marti was also an avid reader and loved landscaping and gardening. She was devoted to her family and friends and will be dearly missed by all.

Marti leaves behind her confidante and companion of many years, Donald Pichler, MD; niece, Audrey Walker and husband Kevin and family; stepdaughter, Brenda and husband Kent and granddaughter, Amber; sisters: Roberta Scherer (William N. Scherer, Jr.) of Pasadena, MD and Norma Whiting of San Diego, CA; brothers: Richard H. Whiting (Rosanne) of Edenburg, PA, Mark J. Whiting of Mercer, PA and Philip J. Whiting (Diane) of Edenburg, PA; along with many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Thursday, August 24, 2017, 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Daniels Family Funeral Services Carlisle Chapel, 3113 Carlisle NE, Albuquerque. A Memorial Service honoring the life of Marti to follow.
