Sandra Jadrnicek

January 16, 1941 — October 10, 2017

Sandra Louise (Bagley) Jadrnicek, 76, of Albuquerque, New Mexico passed away of a sudden illness on Tuesday, October 10, 2017.  She was preceded in death by her mother, G. Kathryn (Kay) Allen; her husband, Larry, and her daughter, Robin.  She is survived by her daughter, Kathryn; her son-in-law, Michel; her son, Aldo; her daughter-in-law, Sherry; her only grandchild, Emily; and her two cats, Mookie and Nicki.  Sandie is also survived by her brother- and sister-in-law, Bob and Sharon Jadrnicek, and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews.  She was born in St. Petersburg, Florida, where she enjoyed dancing and gymnastics.  She participated in many local and national theatrical dance performances including one television performance in Miami.  She also successfully competed in multiple local and national dance tournaments as well as one tour of France with her dance company.  Her family moved to Arizona when she was in junior high, and she graduated from Amphitheater High School in Tucson in 1959.  After high school, she attended one year of college, then went to work for a stock brokerage firm in Norfolk, Virginia.  It was there she met and fell in love with Larry, a sailor in the US Navy, and – in the words of her sister-in-law, Sharon – one of the two best looking guys she’d ever seen.  After Larry completed his service in the Navy, they moved to his home town of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where the weather took its toll on the young family.  They finally decided to leave Iowa for New Mexico, settling in Albuquerque.  Here the family flourished, and she became a successful “Avon Lady”, selling in three territories and achieving the President’s Club award.  She later worked as a secretary at Kennedy Middle School and then at Del Norte High School.  After her time with the public schools, she went to work for Westway Trucking in the accounts payable department, where she later retired.  Throughout her life she truly enjoyed animals, especially her several cats, dogs, and bunnies.  She regularly gave to many animal welfare charities.  An avid reader of mysteries and crime novels, she was never seen without a paperback book in her hand.  Her favorite activities included attending Emily’s dance recitals, band performances, and volleyball games.  She was a warm, kind-hearted woman who made friends easily, loved generously, and will be missed immensely.  Her memorial service will be held on Friday, October 20, 2017 at 11:00 am in Daniel’s Family Funeral Services Wyoming Chapel (7601 Wyoming Boulevard NE, Albuquerque, New Mexico) with interment to follow in the Santa Fe National Cemetery (501 North Guadalupe Street, Santa Fe, New Mexico).  In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in her memory be made to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (https://www.aspca.org).
