Celia Marquez, 80 passed away peacefully on Friday November 10th, 2017. She was born at home in Anton Chico NM on April 22nd, 1937 to loving parents Samuel and Rebecca Pino. Celia was the youngest of 13 children and grew up surrounded by love and laughter. Being the youngest she enjoyed the special attention of all of her older brothers and sisters and nieces and nephews who were as close as siblings. Celia attended school in Anton Chico and graduated from Santa Rosa High School in 1956. In 1958 she was married to Albert Marquez and enjoyed 37 years of marriage together until his passing in 1995. Celia worked at Levi Strauss and GTE Lenkurt and retired in 1988 after many years of service. She was a member of Our Lady of Assumption Parish where she sang in the Spanish Choir for many years.
Celia was full of life. She enjoyed singing, dancing and especially laughing. Being around family was the most important thing to her. She went on many trips to Las Vegas, Laughlin and a special family trip to Ruidoso just 6 weeks ago. Celia was blessed to have weekly family gatherings at her home on Saturdays with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. “Saturdays at Grandma’s” went on for many years up until the Saturday before her passing. Those memories will be forever treasured by her family.
Celia was preceded in death by her Husband Albert, parents Samuel and Rebecca Pino, brothers Prospero, Estevan, Samuel, Jose, Abelino and Pete Pino, sister Brigida Montano and sister Elicia who died in infancy. Celia is survived by her daughters, Laverne and husband Ron Montoya, Shirley and husband Adrian Leyva, Anita and husband Leonard Baca, sons Leon, Tim and David Marquez. Grandchildren, Brigette and husband Isaiah Leyva, Miranda Chavez and Jessica Baca. Great-grandchildren Marcel, Montae and Lily Leyva and Ysaih Montoya. She is also survived by special sister Rebecca Aragon and brothers Cecilio, Reynaldo(Lalo) and Arturo (Tudi) Pino and many nieces, nephews and extended family who were all very special to her. The family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers and support during this difficult time. May she rest in eternal peace.
A Rosary will be recited on Thursday November 16th at 7:00 p.m. with visitation prior to Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish 1860 Griegos Rd. N.W.
Funeral Mass will be on Friday November 17th at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Assumption Parish 811 Guaymas Pl. N.E. (corner of Lomas and Tennessee)
Burial will be at the Santa Fe National Cemetery on November 24, 2017 at 9:45 AM
