Ernestine "Teeny" Hinshaw Ricard
Our dad, grandpa and great-grandpa passed away at the age of 93 on Thursday, June 29, 2017. Dad was born in Slater Missouri on September 17,1923 to Arnauld Joseph and Hazledean Walton Ricard.
Dad served in the Army Air Corps during WWII working in cryptology and security. One of his favorite places he served during this time was in Panama. He had said many times he would have loved to go back there. He talked a lot about the different places he was sent during the war and enjoyed talking about them. During on of his trips, he met a young lady that grabbed his heart. After the war ended, he found this young lady, Ernestine "Teeny" Hinshaw. They got married on October 25, 1949 at Selfridge Air Force Base in Mt. Clemmons, Michigan. From here they were sent to Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. Dad's next assignment was his overseas duty in Anchorage, Alaska at Elemendorf Air Force Base. Alaska didn't become a state until 1959. From here dad was assigned to McClellan Air Force Base in Sacremento, California. His last assignment was here in Albuquerque at Sandia Base in 1962, now Kirtland. His work though, was on Manzano Base, which was secret at the time.
Dad was preceded in death by his parents, Arnauld and Hazeldean Ricard; step-mom Marie Ricard; his loving wife of 58 years, Ernestine "Teeny" Ricard; son-in-law Rich Rood; and son -in-law Daniel Sanchez.
Dad is survived by his daughters: Lynda Rood, her son Rick Rood (Claudine) and their sons Jordan and Tad; her daughter Wendy Valla (Mike) and their sons Ryan and Toby; Renae Ricard (Gordon Postenreider) and their daughter Stephanie Soto (Joey) their daughter Nira and son Nathaniel; Debbie Price, her daughter Tauzha, her children Allen, Destiny and Abbie; son Matthew Price; daughter Katie Chavez and her children Jacob, Autumn and Mila; Tina Sanchez and finally his cat Beau.
A Rosary for mom and dad will be recited on Friday, July 14, 2017 at 7pm at The Church of Incarnation, 2309 Monterrey Rd NE Rio Rancho. A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2017, 2pm, at Vista Verde Memorial Park, 4310 Sara Rd SE , Rio Rancho.
