Herlinda Maria Sanchez, born Feb 3, 1930, passed into the fullness of life August 16, 2015. Our Wife, Mother, Nana, Auntie, and friend, lived her 85 years in her hometown of Albuquerque, NM. Daughter of Manuel and Teresa Vigil, she was born in Albuquerque, NM, at the onset of the Great Depression. After graduating Albuquerque High, 1947, she met and married her husband of 66 years, Rudolph Sanchez after WWII in August of 1949. She grew up in the neighborhood of Barelas, NM, a suburb of Albuquerque, but lived her adult life with her husband and sons in the Northwest Valley. She is survived by 5 siblings, Lena Baca, Theresa Segura, Leo Vigil, Jenny Sanchez, and Dolores Aragon. She is preceded in death by her older brother Carmel Vigil, sisters Isabelle Baros, Ora Sanchez, and her baby brother, Herman Vigil. She raised and loved her four sons, Rudolph Mark Sanchez, Matthew Juan Sanchez, Ronald Luke Sanchez, and Teles William Sanchez, her grandchildren, Jacob John Sanchez, Erlinda Renee Sanchez, Dr. Angela Marie Sanchez-Castellanos, Telesfor Elisha Sanchez, Emma Josephine Sanchez, and Erin Ella Sanchez, daughters-in-law; Laura Sanchez, Leslie Sanchez, Linda Cully, Lisa Sanchez, and Erica Vesley. In the fashion of her time, she chose not to work, but to stay home and raise her children and run her household. She will be remembered as a loving mother and wife, unselfishly loving her family without complaint, through illness and strife. She was a devout Catholic and attended mass weekly. Her smile, laugh, and positive outlook always shone in her hazel eyes, and she never dwelled on a negative thought. She never forgot a person whom she met, and would inquire into their wellbeing, with never a care for her own. Though her body failed in her later years her mind remained sharp and she never complained or let on, and her outlook was always positive and her spirits high.
Rosary will take place on Friday, August 21, 2015 at 9:30 am, with a Mass to follow at 10:00 am, at Queen of Heaven, 5303 Phoenix Ave NE, Albuquerque, NM. Burial will take place at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
