John Cordova, left his earthly home to meet our Lord and Savior, Jesus, on February 20, 2019 at the age of 100 years and 5 months. He was born on September 20, 1918 in Berwind, Colorado. He lived in Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, and settled in New Mexico in 1931. He passed away at his home of 27 years in Rio Rancho, NM. He joined the Army on September 29, 1942 and served for four years. He received the European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal while serving in General Patton’s Command and the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Victory Medal for service in the Philippines. He was a very proud World War II Veteran. He accepted Jesus as his Savior in 1947. He was a fireman for 30 years and worked at the Los Alamos National Laboratory as a machinist for 10 years. He always had a love of missions and led many people to the Lord during his life. When he retired he handed out Christian tracts and also served as a Missionary for 12 years in Mexico.
John married his beloved wife Lourdes Garcia on June 14, 1947 and they were married for 71 joyful years. He is survived by wife Lourdes, 6 children, Anita Barela, Virginia Lucero (Gil), Pat Sprabary (Larry), Shirley Garcia (Larry), Esther Rainey (Donnie), and Kenneth Cordova (Annette). He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
John attributed his longevity to his relationship with the LORD, GOD’s will, clean living, a loving family, exercise, and just being very active.
John said, “Long life is a Blessing from the LORD.”
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 1, 2019, 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Daniels Funeral Home, 4310 Sara Road SE, Rio Rancho, NM 87124. Services will be held Saturday, March 2, 2019, 1:00pm at Grace Outreach Center, 2900 Southern Blvd SE, Rio Rancho, NM 87124. Interment will follow at Vista Verde Memorial Park 4310 Sara Road S.E., Rio Rancho, NM 87124
