Matthew Lee Benavidez

 

Matthew, age 32, of Albuquerque, NM passed away Monday, July 12, 2021. Matthew was born March 15, 1989 in La Junta, Colorado but was raised in Albuquerque, NM since the age 1 year old.

 

He was preceded in death by his mother, Rebecca Collins-Rodriguez; his brother, Lawrence J Benavidez; his grandmothers Juanita and Delia; his grandfathers and uncles.

 

Matthew is survived by his wife, Desiree; children: Emily, Nicholas, Alexandra and Ezra; father and stepmother, Lawrence and Louise Benavidez; siblings: Melissa and Jim Salmonson and their children, Dominic and Amelia all of Albuquerque, Cindy Benavidez and children: Natalie, Evan and April all of Albuquerque, James Benavidez of Albuquerque, Elizabeth and Daniel McLaughlin of Albuquerque, and stepbrother Dominic Sanchez of Albuquerque; many aunts, uncles and cousins.

 

Matthew’s life was unexpectedly taken from us and he was loved by every person that came to know him, but even more so his love was endless. He was a man with a heart of gold. He loved tattoos and he was a tattoo artist and loved drawing but of course, his kids were his life. The most important value to him was family and he lived by this value every day. Matthew was a hardworking man that wanted nothing more than to take care of his family. He always looked forwarded to his children’s birthday, holidays and all the amazing little adventures he would take his family on. We will miss his kindness, his laughter, his smile and his radiantly good nature that could always be felt in his presence.

 

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 24, 2021 at 1:30 p.m., Albuquerque Gospel Hall, 3305 Aztec Rd NE, Albuquerque, NM.

 

The family would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of love and support during this time.
