Shasta Lea Poppe Herrera

Caring wife, daughter, mother, sister, granddaughter, niece and friend. Shasta left this world suddenly on December 11, 2020 in Rio Rancho, NM

Shasta Lea Poppe Herrera was born on May 14, 1979 in Osmond Nebraska to loving parents Larry and Wendy (Boling) Poppe. She is the oldest child of three.

Shasta’s two children Max and Avery Bear are the light of her life.  There wasn’t a moment or activity that went by where she wasn’t thinking of them.

Shasta met the love of her life Christopher Herrera in Arizona in 2016.  Their love was united in marriage on February 3, 2019 in Farmington, NM.

Shasta saw the good in everyone and was able to help many in need.  There was never a doubt that she loved you - you saw it in her beautiful smiling face, her sparkling eyes, and you could instantly hear the love in her voice - even her text messages reflected the expression of love to all.

She loved to cook and learn new recipes.  She had a thirst to explore and learn about the world around her.  This was evident in the activities she did with her children by planning trips to museums, parks, zoos and hiking trails - she was always looking to be adventurous and explore.

Shasta was a beautiful, caring, intelligent and spiritual woman. Her mother & father, Larry & Wendy shared, “When Shasta walked into a room, her beautiful smile would light up your world”.  Her love for her children Avery & Max was steadfast and unwavering.  Shasta adored and loved her husband Chris & his children Ben, Mia, Deegan & Brooklyn. Shasta had a beautiful connection with her sister, Mandy.  They shared an unbreakable bond.  Her love for her brother, Josh was very special as well.

While her departure leaves a profound void, we can show our loving gratitude to Shasta and honor her daily by reflecting on her gifts of love, grace, creativity and generosity in our thoughts and actions.

Shasta was survived by her husband, Christopher Herrera, her two children Maxwell & Avery Bear, parents, Larry & Wendy Poppe, Sister, Mandy Poppe & husband Alex Tsatskis, brother Joshua Poppe, grandmother, Shirley Poppe, grandfather, Don Boling & wife Debra Boling, her 4 step children, Ben, Mia, Deegan and Brooklyn Herrera, mother in-law Vicki Young & husband, Morris Young, father in-law, Stan Herrera & wife Kristene Herrera.

Shasta was also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, niece & nephew.

Shasta was proceeded in death by her Grandmother, Cherie Boling, grandfather, Melvin Poppe, great grandparents and uncles.
