Age 90, passed away peacefully, Sunday, October 15, 2017. She was born in McGaffey, NM on August 31, 1927, to Raymond and Mary Ellen Fuentes. Velma married Johnny Russell, February 3, 1953. They had 50 wonderful years together. After Johnny's death in 2003, Velma continued to live in San Acacia, NM. Velma loved having her kids, grandkids, and friends come by and visit. She especially loved the large family gatherings at her home. She enjoyed quilting, crafting, gardening, picking pinon, and looking for arrowheads. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Johnny; youngest son, John Russell; and her parents. Velma is survived by son, Richard (Kathi) McAllister; daughter, Charlotte (Ron) Miller, son, Ralph (Charity) McAllister, and daughter Carol (Lloyd) Parnell, and daughter-in-law Dee Russell. Many grandkids, great grandkids, and a few great-great grandkids, and many other family members whom will all miss her very much. A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, October 20, 2017 at the Luna Cemetery in Luna New Mexico at 1:00 P.M. A reception will be held at the Latter-Day Saints Church in Luna, New Mexico.
