Adolfo “Adolf” Martinez, born on July 3, 1953, in Albuquerque to Donicio & Chonita Martinez. He passed away on February 28, 2026, at Rust Medical Center in Albuquerque, NM, surrounded by family members and loved ones. Adolf grew up in Alameda outside of downtown Albuquerque and graduated from Valley High School.
Adolf was the youngest of 7 children.
Adolf spent his career as an HVAC technician supporting Albuquerque Public Schools. After over 25 years, he continued to do general handyman projects for friends, family, and community.
Adolf raised six children, ensuring they grew up to be strong, independent, successful parents and community contributors. When not spending time with family, Adolf loved watching Lobo basketball, catching up with old friends, doing odd jobs, and winning at the local casinos.
Adolf was preceded in death by his parents, Donicio & Chonita Martinez; his siblings, Loyola Stevens, Rosalie Stevens, Theresa Martinez, Donicio “Junior” Martinez, Rick Romo; his grandson, Joshua Hendren; and father-in-law, Margarito Sedillo.
Adolf was survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Lorraine; and siblings Lugie Romo, Vicentita “Tita” Gutierrez, and Jeannette Duran. His children Steve Gurule, Chris Gurule, Stephanie Gurule-Warren & husband Ron, Adam Martinez and wife Liz, Melissa Montano and husband Gilbert, and Stacy Martinez. Adolf was blessed with 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family that may have called him Uncle, Tio, or Grandpa; yet another example of the person he was and the impact he had on their lives.
Adolf lived a full and wonderful life.
Special thanks to friends and family for prayers and peace in the family’s time of grief and sorrow for Adolf.
