Agnes Opdyke (LaBrake), age 92, mother, wife, daughter, grandmother, and sister passed away May 23rd, 2025, after age related illnesses.
Born to George and Hilda LaBrake on February 23rd, 1933, in Stockholm, New York, Agnes was the oldest of 14 siblings.
Life didn’t keep her in New York. By 1954, Agnes went on a blind date in July with Chuck Opdyke. By September, they were married. The two would be married till Chuck’s passing in 2014 from Alzheimer's.
After Chuck’s discharge, Agnes spent the next 68 years making Albuquerque her home with Chuck. From RV’ing, to going back to New York for family reunions, to making her famous apple pie at home: she was a homemaker at heart.
The last two years of her life were spent with her daughter Ruth in Pennsylvania who provided comfort and love till Agnes’s last day on earth.
Agnes was preceded in death by her parents Hilda and George, husband Chuck of 59 years, her two sons, Keith and Ken, and four brothers.
Agnes is survived by her oldest son Frank (wife Sharon), daughter Ruth, nephew Stephen (wife Linda), her 7 grandchildren, Jesse, Jared, Jeff, Leslie, Chris, Scarlett and Samantha and countless great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
The internment will be at Sandia Memory Gardens on July 2nd with the immediate family.
