Alan "Al" L. Herman

October 8, 1926 — May 15, 2022

Alan “Al” L. Herman passed away in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, on May 15th, 2022, at the age of 95.  Alan was born on Friday, October 8th, 1926, in Greeley, Colorado, to Mabel Louise and Fred L. Herman. Alan attended and graduated from Bush Diesel High School in 1948. Alan also received schooling to be a pilot, learning to fly single engine, multi-engine planes and Instrument Landing System equipped planes. Alan served in The United States Navy for two years, serving during World War II on the USS Natrana. He was honorably discharged with the ending rank of Signalman 3rd class.  Alan married Joyce Smith in 1947 and together they had four beautiful children, Lynn, Nancy, Alan and David.  Later on, Alan married, June Brubaker, in Santa Fe, New Mexico. They were married for 46 years. Alan worked at Rust Tractor Company and Caterpillar for over 40 years.

Alan is survived by his daughter, Nancy Locklin and her husband Barney of Erie, Colorado; son, Alan Herman and his wife Jill of Corrales, New Mexico; son, David Herman and his wife Joyce of Algodones, New Mexico; stepson, Mark Ashley of Albuquerque, New Mexico; stepson, Shawn Ashley and his wife Joy of Perry, Georgia.  Alan is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Alan is preceded in death by his wife, June Herman; and his daughter, Lynn Griego.

Dad was a force of nature, passionate in everything he did. He was our pops, may he rest in peace.

A Celebration of Life will be held at The Neighborhood, located at 900 Loma Colorado Blvd. NE, Rio Rancho, New Mexico, 87124, on Saturday, July 9th, 2022, at 11:00 AM.
