Albert Frank Badeau Jr., aged 92, passed away peacefully at his home in Rio Rancho, NM. Al was born in Providence, Rhode Island in 1933 to Albert F. Badeau Sr. and Mae Rose Barney. He grew up in Cranston, Rhode Island where he attended Cranston High School and graduated in1951. He and his best friend Alcino Almeida worked various jobs together, including at the local movie theater. They both enlisted into the military at the same time, not telling their parents until after the deed was done. Albert spent 4 years of active duty in the Air Force and 2 years in the reserves. His last assignment was at Biggs Airbase in El Paso, TX where he met his first wife, Lucy Olivas, and mother of his children. He later began his career at a civil service position at White Sands Missile Range, NM, where he worked for 30 years.
He is preceded in death by both of his parents, his sisters Belle Calenda, Jeanette Schinse and Patricia Patton. Albert’s first wife, Lucy, passed away in August 1993 and his last wife, Leonora, passed away in November of 2025.
He is survived by his daughter Carmen M. Badeau and her wife Cheryl A. Godin of Albuquerque, NM, his son Albert III(Buddy) F. Badeau and his wife Carol Badeau of Colorado Springs, CO, and his son Michael J. Badeau of Kirkland, AZ. Albert loved being a father and grandfather of 7 grandchildren. Between he and his wife Leonora, they leave behind 47 grand, great grand and great-great grandchildren. Albert also leaves behind 8 nieces and nephews. He loved them all!
Along with his love of family and friends, he loved his dogs. While living in Rio Rancho, Mandy and later Casey, filled his heart with joy. They were faithful companions, a listening ear and giver of great advice and unconditional love.
Albert was always busy working with his hands using his creative talents to make Christmas yard decorations, punched tinwork often incorporating stained glass, doggie or kitty bowl stands, and other various household items out of wood & paint. After his last wife passed away, he filled his time by putting together jigsaw puzzles, which he would glue together, frame and had us hang them throughout his house.
He was generous in donations to his church as well as to various organizations such as Watermelon Mountain Ranch Pet Rescue, Albuquerque Humane Society and the Lung Association.
A funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday, July 7, 2026. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of the Incarnation, located at 2309 Monterrey Road NE, Rio Rancho, New Mexico 87144, followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery, where Albert will be laid to rest with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, Albert asks that donations be made to Animal Humane of New Mexico at 615 Virginia St. SE, Albuquerque, NM 87108 or Watermelon Mountain Ranch at 1380 Rio Rancho Blvd. SE Suite 374 Rio Rancho NM 87124.
