It is with deep sadness that the family of Albert "Sonny" David Martinez announces his peaceful passing on April 6, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his beloved wife, Liz and his sons, Alec and Brandon.
Born on October 10, 1965, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Albert grew up in Alameda and graduated from Menaul School in 1983. He was a man of genuine character — known for his warmth, his quiet strength, and a wonderful wit and sense of humor that endeared him to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Albert began his career in real estate in 1994 and dedicated himself to his profession with great integrity and purpose, serving as Branch Manager and Escrow Officer for Fidelity National Title Residential Services in New Mexico for 25+ years. He was respected by his colleagues and trusted by those he served, and he brought the same steadfast commitment to his work that he brought to every corner of his life.
Outside of his career, Albert's greatest joy was his family. He lovingly remembered every camping trip, every family adventure, and every mile traveled together as among life's greatest gifts. His devotion to his loved ones was unwavering, and his enthusiasm for his beloved Denver Broncos was equally steadfast — a source of both great pride and great laughter for those closest to him.
Albert is sadly missed by his beloved wife of 32 years, Elizabeth Martinez; his sons, Alec Martinez and Brandon Martinez; his mother, Roma Chavez; his sister, Yvette Martinez-Rigg; his brother, Timothy Martinez, his mother-in-law, Dolores Gutierrez and several uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Aurelio Martinez.
A Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Parish, 1502 Sara Road S.E., Rio Rancho, New Mexico, on Friday, April 17, 2026. The Rosary will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by Mass at 10:30 a.m.
Albert David Martinez was a devoted husband, a proud father, a loyal son and brother, and a man of deep faith and great kindness. He will be forever lovingly remembered by all who were blessed to share in his life, and the warmth he brought to this world will not soon be forgotten.
