Alec Christian Montoya

Alec Christian Montoya began his life's journey on July 29th, 1997, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. On October 9th, 2025, he was called to his eternal home, leaving behind a profound legacy of love, joy, and kindness that illuminated the lives of everyone who knew him.

Alec dedicated his life to helping others. After graduating high school in 2015, he pursued his passion, earning his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from UNM in 2023. His career as a pediatric emergency department nurse at UNMH was more than a job; it was the clearest expression of his deep sense of purpose. He was wholeheartedly committed to the care of children, striving every day to be the very best for his young patients and their families.

While his work was sacred, Alec also knew the joy of simple pleasures—hitting the gym, mastering Fortnite, and indulging in a well-earned nap. Above all, he cherished traveling and making memories with the love of his life, Brianna, his devoted partner of 11 years.

Simply put, Alec was a shining light. We will forever remember his infectious smile, his booming, unmistakable laughter, and the unwavering kindness he extended to all. He possessed a rare and beautiful gift for lifting spirits and offering comfort. His passing leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of his family, friends, patients, and colleagues.

Alec is survived by his loving parents, Christian Montoya and Margie S., along with his sweet nana, Florence Montoya. He leaves behind his beloved girlfriend, Brianna Bustretsky, with whom he shared a deep and enduring connection. He was embraced and loved like a son by Ramon Gonzales and Michelle Bustretsky. Alec will be deeply missed by his siblings, Alyssa Bustretsky (Shiloh Olson), Ramon Gonzales IV, and Lilleanna Gonzales, as well as his nephews, Sawyer and Emmitt Olson. Alec is also mourned by his wide network of extended family, including aunts and uncles—Brenda Lucero (Eulogio Lucero) and Deborah Lenhoff (Raymond Lenhoff), Irene, Edward, and Joe Sena, and a large circle of cousins who were constantly touched by his joyful spirit and generous heart.

The Celebration of Life service to honor Alec Christian Montoya will be held at Calvary Church on Tuesday, October 21st, 2025, at 11 am, located at 4001 Osuna Rd NE, Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Although Alec's physical presence is no longer with us, his spirit remains deeply rooted in the lives he impacted. His warmth, generosity, and joyful energy continue to inspire us each day. We can honor his memory best by striving to live with the same love, compassion, and light that he so freely shared.
