Alice A. (Bany) Gary

Gary, Alice A. (Bany) Age 86, passed away Friday, November 18, 2011. Alice A. Bany was born in Detroit, MI, to Alexander and Catherine Bany. She graduated from Chadsey High School, where she met and later married her husband of 62 years, Carl R. Gary. Alice was gifted with abundant kindness, courage, patience, creativity, and an open and inquisitive mind- all of which were called upon during her enduring marriage, the raising of three children, and her eventful and often challenging later life. Her creativity and energy were well utilized in her work as an assistant to a renowned interior designer, and later as a manager for a large fabric store. Her passions included quilting, nature, gardening, and watching the beauty of every sunrise. She was an avid reader and expert seamstress, gifted at both interior decorating and the occasional formal gown. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carl R. Gary; and her eldest son, Philip Carl Gary. She is survived by daughter, Paula Smith and husband David; her son, Michael Gary; and her beloved grandchildren, Alexandra Jacoby, Donald Gary, and Matthew Gary. Her family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Ricardo Ortega, Holly and Glenda of Home Care Assistance, and the entire staff of The Retreat, for their expert and compassionate care during Alice's final months. A Prayer Service will be held at 8:00 AM, Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at Daniels Family funeral Services, Sara Chapel, 4310 Sara Road SE, Rio Rancho, NM. Interment will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM.
