Alma Jean Howell

Howell, Alma Jean Alma Jean Howell, age 82, born November 7, 1928 in Hale Center, Texas, and the daughter of Ural and Gladys Barnard passed away September 24, 2011. She lived her young life in Amarillo, Texas. After graduating from Amarillo High School she attended Amarillo College and Texas Tech University. She then married an Air Force Officer and his career took them to many parts of the world. She settled in Albuquerque in 1973, worked as an executive secretary at Transamerica Insurance Company and Mountain Stated Life Insurance Company until she retired in 1993.She was a long time and active member of St. John��?�s United Methodist Church, The Friendship Sunday School class, Pathfinders��?� Circle and Jolly Elder��?�s Group. She enjoyed the Bear Canyon Senior Center and the Albuquerque Ikebana Group of the Albuquerque Garden Center. She is survived by daughter Kay Ortega, son-in-law David Ortega and granddaughter Alicia Ortega of Cave Creek, AZ, daughter Kim Boling, son-in-law Michael Boling, and grandchildren Abby Boling and Daniel Boling of Albuquerque: Brother, Don Barnard and wife Norma of Atoka, OK: Sister-in-laws, Joyce Barnard of Ft. Worth Texas and Laroyce Coy of Houston, Texas. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2011 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am with a funeral services to begin at 10:00 am St. Johns United Methodist Church, 2626 Arizona St, NE, Albuquerque, NM. Private family interment at Fairview Memorial Park. As Jean was an avid Gardner the family requests that personal garden flowers from your gardens be brought to the service as opposed to florist arrangements and memorial gifts be made to your charity of heart.
