Anderson C. Hatfield,

January 31, 1989 — April 19, 2026

Albuquerque

Anderson (“Andy”) Hatfield passed away on April 19, 2026. Andy was born in Albuquerque and attended school at Our Lady of the Anunciation and St. Pius X High School before finishing his undergraduate work at UNM, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. Andy attended law school at the University of Notre Dame, where he also graduated Magna Cum Laude, and was very active in their Pro-Life organization. Andy returned to New Mexico to work as a prosecutor for the State, in Roswell and Deming, prior to being hired as an Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA). Two quotes from one of his performance appraisals during this time stand out: “Andy handles a caseload far greater than that of an AUSA of similar experience.” Also, “Andy’s ethics and integrity are beyond reproach.” As a prosecutor for the State of New Mexico, Andy worked for a Special Victims’ Unit, bringing justice for the most vulnerable. Even while directing his considerable talents against such darkness, Andy was well-known for his bright and caring disposition, never shrinking from any family or friend in need, or who asked for a favor. His co-workers would inevitably take an instant liking to him.

Andy is survived by his parents, Michael and Mary Kay Hatfield, of Albuquerque, and his brother, sister-in-law and niece, Troy, Claire, and Iris Hatfield, of Salt Lake City. A rosary will be held at Daniel’s Family Funeral’s Chapel on Wyoming Blvd., on Sunday, April 26, at 5:00 p.m. The funeral will be on Monday, April 27, 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of the Anunciation in Albuquerque.
