Angela Russo

Angela “Angie” Russo went home to her parents “Mama and Papa,” and her sister, Aunt Lorraine on August 25^th, 2023.  She was born on November 11, 1930 in the Bronx, NY to Italian immigrants and raised by them and her beloved grandmother.  She started school not knowing a word of English but she made up for it throughout her lifetime.  Angie was a beautiful, funny, feisty woman who dedicated her life to her family.  Wanting a better life, she moved us to Rio Rancho in 1977 and was so proud having her NY friends and family visit beautiful New Mexico.  She loved cooking, gardening, “coffee and cake.”  Most of all, she loved her family and she was a dedicated friend to those past and present.  She is survived by her son Jody Maturo; his children Courtney, Emily, Sara and Jakob.  Her daughter Lori Hillis; her children, Matthew (wife Leah) and Ashley (wife Stacy).   Anthony Abbondanza (wife Theresa) daughter Jessica.  Great-grandchildren Lucas and Halen.  Her sisters, JoJo Talone and Jeannie Damiani of NY and brother John Benedetto of AZ.  Her sister-in-law Sasha Benedetto of Rio Rancho.  The family would like to thank our angel Hospice Nurse “Laurie” with Presbyterian Hospice Services for guiding us to help mom go home to her “Mama and Papa.” 

Services will be held on Saturday, October 7 at 10:00 am followed by a reception lunch at Daniels - Sara Chapel, 4310 Sara Rd. SE, Rio Rancho, NM 87124.
