Our beloved Ann K. Smith left this world at age 76 to be with her Heavenly Father and Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 17th, 2025. She was born in Lamar, Colorado in 1949, and grew up in the areas of Campo and Springfield, Colorado. Here was always “home” to her, and she was proud to be a student of both schools, graduating from Springfield in 1967; A Warrior and a Longhorn at heart, always. She had several life-long, loving and cherished friendships from those Baca County days.
Ann was a woman of great faith, and a kind and loving granddaughter, daughter, wife, mother, aunt, cousin, grandmother and friend. She always supported her family in every endeavor, and did so with a cheerful spirit. Her heart also bent for those who were in need or hurting. To her, her greatest accomplishments were the success and happiness of her family. She is deeply loved by each and every one of them, as well as by many friends she has made along life’s journey. Ann enjoyed her Caregivers Group and Bible Study Group, as well as spending time with her family (especially her grand and great grandkids). Ann will be greatly missed, and the love for her will live on in each of our hearts, always.
Ann is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Kim Smith of Rio Rancho, NM, and their children; Stacey Smith of Albuquerque and her son and daughters and grandchildren, Cynthia Smith of Chandler, Oklahoma and her daughters and grandchildren, Becky Smith and her wife Sharon of Edgewood, NM and their daughters and grandchildren, and Ben Smith of Rio Rancho, as well as her step-son, Todd Souffrou of Clayton, NM and his daughters. She is also survived by her nephews Jason and Monica Hinds of Alamosa, CO and their daughters, and Phillip and Tanisha Hinds of Springfield, CO and their sons. Ann is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Joy Hinds and her brother Mark Hinds of Springfield, and her brother Jay Hinds of San Diego, CA.
Service will be held at First Baptist Church of Rio Rancho on Tuesday, June 24th, with visitation at 3pm, service at 4pm MST, and a light dinner at 5pm.
