TIBBETTS - Anna W. Tibbetts was born August 15,1933, in Cambridge, MA and peacefully passed away to be home with her Lord and Savior on November 17, 2010, in Albuquerque, NM. Born and raised in Massachusetts, she lived between the US and Europe (Germany, where her older son was born) with her family for many years. She became an Exemplar of Beta Sigma Phi, Laureate Alpha Zeta, pledged by Gamma Chapter, Limestone ME, 1963 (where her daughters were both born.) She held offices in Wiesbaden, Germany, California, Louisiana, Alabama, and Albuquerque, NM. Anna was named Girl of the Year at her first Founder’s Day Banquet for her work with orphanages and disabled children. Anna’s family retired from the service and resided in Albuquerque, NM where she volunteered in public relations for several soda bottling companies. She also belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star and to American Legion Post 49 in Albuquerque. Stonewall, CO became Anna’s retirement destination for many years where she held offices in the Las Animas County Cowbelles, was SCCA Historian and served on the Board of the Highway of Legends Corporation. Anna was also a correspondent for the Signature in La Veta, as well as volunteered for the Republican Party, Spanish Peaks Branch of the American Red Cross (Bosque del Oso wildland fire/meals for volunteers), A.R. Mitchell Museum, Stonewall Volunteer Fire Department, and the cancer, muscular dystrophy and heart associations. In 2003 the Trinidad and Las Animas County Chamber of Commerce bestowed its first Ambassador Appreciation Award on Anna for her goodwill contributions and rarely missing a ribbon cutting ceremony despite frequent 80 mile roundtrips. She made very dear friends in the Red Hat Society and is survived by her best friend Marge MacDonald. Anna is also survived by her sister, Katherine Francis Strong of CO, her step-sister, Marcelle St. Onges, of MA, her former husband, Reginald Franklin Tibbetts, Sr., retired Master Sergeant, U. S. Air Force, her three children, Reginald Franklin Tibbetts, Jr. and his wife Margret, Regina Ann Melbourne, and her husband Ralph, and Sandra Lin Chavez, and her husband, Anthony. She is blessed with grandchildren Tiffany Tibbetts Pegues and husband Clarence, Krystal Renee Gaffney and husband Jason, RuthAnn Elizabeth Tibbetts, Ralph Christopher Melbourne, John Franklin Melbourne, TJ Chavez and Dustin Chavez. Anna has a great granddaughter, Addison Riley Gaffney. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, sister-in-laws, and dear friends. December 17, Friday evening, a Deacon of Our Lady of the Assumption will share a Prayer Ceremony and Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Daniel's Family Funeral Services, 7601 Wyoming N.E. December 18, a service of Christian burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. at the Cathedral of St. John, 318 Silver S.W., and Interment to follow at the Centennial Urn Garden, at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd., N.E. at 3:15 p.m. Anna’s care has been entrusted to: Daniels Family Funeral Services 7601 Wyoming Blvd NE Albuquerque, NM 87109 (505) 821-0010
