Annie Burns

Burns died Feb. 9, 2011, in Ganado. She was born Oct. 15, 1937, in Cornfields, into the Black Streaked People Clan for the Charcoal Streaked, Red Running Into the Water People Clan. Burns graduated from Fort Wingate High School in 1957. She worked and retired from Ganado Public School with the food service department and Sage Memorial Hospital with the dietary department. Her hobbies included sewing, weaving and cooking. Survivors include her husband, Roy Burns of Navajo Station; sons, Patrick Burns, Russell Burns, Jerome W. Burns, all of Navajo Station; daughters, Sandra Godbey of Phoenix, Brenda P. Wanatee of Tama, Iowa; brothers, Francis Roanhorse of Fort Defiance, James Roanhorse of Cornfields; sisters, Caroline Joe of Navajo Station, Angelina Morgan of Fort Wingate, Mary Louise Francisco of Window Rock; 18 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. Burns was preceded in death by Jim and Magdelina Roanhorse, Anslem Roanhorse, Louise Morgan, Franklin Roanhorse, Vanessa Burns. Pallbearers will be Garrett Francis, Calvin Godbey, Jamin Godbey, Elliot Burns, Lawrence Burns, Ronald Morgan . The family will receive relatives and friends at All Saints Hall, Ganado, following services. Arrangements are entrusted to Tse Bonito Mortuary Tse Bonito, New Mexico 87301 (505) 371-5565
