Annie Mae Yazzie, 79, passed away from this life on Thursday, Sept. 16, 2010. Born on March 3, 1931 south of Nenahnezad community to Woodrow and Alice Barber. She was married to Jay Yazzie, Sr. for 55 loving years. They lived in Nenahnezad all their life. She was of the Naaneeshtezhi clan born for Oozei Tachiinii. Her maternal clan were Taneeszahnii and paternal clan were Hooghan lani. Mrs. Yazzie was preceded in death by her husband, Jay Yazzie Sr., her father Woodrow Barber, her son Tommy Yazzie, brother Kenneth Barber, and grandson Sgt. Clifton Jerrod Yazzie (Iraqi Freedom). Annie is survived by 10 sons, Harrison (Katy), Calvin (Ida), Clifford (Jeanette), Wilson (Vivian), Alfred, Charles (Darlene), Jay Jr., Lorenzo, Timothy, Raymond (Sharon), and 3 daughters, Orlanda, Suzanne (Warren) and Judith. As well as 30 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Also, sisters, Mae Alice Hogue, Ida Barber, Bernice White, Evelyn Barber, Lucy Hogue and Mae Simms and brothers, Joe Barber, Andrew Barber Sr., Roger Barber and Gilbert Barber. She was loving and devoted mother and wife who wil be greatly missed, especially her smile and laughter but her love, prayers and teaching will continue to be with her family. Her stories, songs, and hugs will forever be cherished in our hearts. Viewing will be Sunday, Sept. 19 from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. at Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home. Services will be held Monday, Sept. 20, 2010 at Open Bible Baptist Church in Waterflow, N.M. at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Robertson Jackson with Apostolic Faith Tabernacle will officiate. Interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, Farmington, N.M. The family wishes to give a special thank you to her home health nurse Patty, Dr. Christian Hull at NNMC, the nurses and doctors of the ICU at SJRMC, also home aide workers Margaret and Melita.
