Anthony “Tony, Sacko” Gutierrez, 37 of Algodones, New Mexico, a beloved son, uncle, brother, grandson, and nephew, passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2026, after a battle with illness, with his mom, nephew, and sister by his side.

Anthony “Sacko” was an active and familiar presence at Bernalillo Public Schools football and basketball games. Wherever he went in Bernalillo, he was sure to run into someone he knew. He loved NASCAR and football and would gladly debate anyone who rooted against his Green Bay Packers. He also loved to BBQ for family gatherings and for the Knights of Columbus, where he was a 4th Degree Knight.

Anthony left a lasting impression on everyone he met and will always be remembered for his kind soul. Those who knew him understood the special bond he shared with his nephew, Eric. They were like brothers, and Anthony, Eric’s “Nono,” would do anything for him. He also shared a special connection with his aunt, Barbara (Archibeque) Baca.

Services will take place on Friday, September 25, 2026, at The Church of the Incarnation, 2309 Monterrey Rd NE, Rio Rancho, NM 87144. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., followed by the Rosary at 9:30 a.m. and Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Algodones Cemetery, Old State Highway 474, Algodones, NM 87001.

Pallbearers will be the 4th Degree Members of the Knights of Columbus, Council #14999 of San Ysidro-Corrales and Council #15199 of The Church of the Incarnation.
