Antonia “Tonia” Tenorio, age 89, passed away peacefully at her Corrales home in the presence of her loving family on June 11, 2024. Antonia was born in Woodlake, CA on February 16, 1935 to Pedro and Antonia Villegas. She grew up in Woodlake with her 9 brothers and 3 sisters until she met her husband, Heraldo, and moved to Corrales, NM. She raised her family in Corrales where she and her family were loved and well known in the community.

There are many things that Tonia was known for. In the earlier part of her life she worked on an assembly line in a cannery. She took these skills home with her and enjoyed canning/preserving food. She was known to always have on hand jars of salsa, chile, peaches, apricots, pears, and other goodies. Tonia was a Homemaker. She took pride in keeping her house clean. She always had many visitors at her house and everyone who visited were amazed at how immaculate her house was at all times. She was known for being a great cook. She made the best home-made flour tortillas, biscochitos, posole, and empanadas. There wasn’t a meal she couldn’t make and her food was delicious - the epitome of abuelita’s good cooking. She would always gather her family and friends for the Super Bowl, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Christmas was magical at Tonia’s house, she would decorate every room in the house. It was magical and every kid would feel the spirit of Christmas in her house - it was a winter wonderland.

Tonia loved taking Sunday drives. She would go to the horse races with her husband every weekend. On special occasions she would take a trip up to El Santuario de Chimayo and stop by at Dairy Queen for an ice cream cone on the way back. She loved her pets. She had many cats throughout the years which were so dear to her. She also loved her little lambs - she would bottle feed them in the house and had special names for them all.

Antonia was a very special person. She had a heart of gold and everyone felt loved by her. She had many friends and was active in her community. She was a member of the San Ysidro Parish in Corrales, and she was a long time resident of Corrales. It was truly a blessing to have met Tonia. May God be as kind and loving to her as she was to everyone who met her. And may she rest in peace with her beloved husband, Heraldo Tenorio.

Antonia is survived by her four children, John, Sylvia, Viola, and Judy. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Calvin, Ryan, Michael, Jacob, Mercedes and Alexandria; four great-grandchildren, Capri, Sofía, Andrés, Arlo, and Béla; 2 brothers, Eligio VIllegas; and Manuel -Villegas and many dear friends and family.

There will be a funeral service in Corrales, NM and an interment service in Woodlake, CA.
