Antonio Anselmo Vigil

Tony A. Vigil, age 79, a resident of Rio Rancho, died Friday, March 3, 2023, at home after a prolonged illness.  Tony was born in El Quique, New Mexico to Mel Vigil and Josefita Maria Gallegos Vigil on June 14, 1943.  Tony went to grade school in El Guique, New Mexico and in Montana. He then attended Grants Senior High School in Grants, New Mexico. Tony graduated from New Mexico Tech with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Physics in 1968 and went to work in California at Fleet Missiles Systems and Evaluation Group in Norco, California.  He transferred to Naval Weapons Center, China Lake, California, where he was employed for 30 years.  During his tenure at Naval Weapons Center, he was Vice President of Technology at Renfrow Incorporated in Camarillo, California for 10 years. After retiring at China Lake, Tony and Frances came to live in Rio Rancho, New Mexico.  He was a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus, achieving 4th degree. He served as Grand Knight and District Deputy in Ridgecrest, California.  Tony loved bowling.  He bowled in Rio Rancho and Santa Ana on several leagues, and in his spare time would go to Ten Pins and practice.  He had a vast collection of novels which he loved to read on his Kindle.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Mel and Josie Vigil; and his sister, Cleo Konty.

He is survived by his sweetheart, Frances Vigil; sons, Tony Vigil, Peter Vigil, Robert Vigil, Eric Vigil; daughter, Linda Marciano; 11 grandchildren, Jessica Keane (Mackenzie), Jamie Nolan (Alex), Dylan Vigil, Megan Vigil, Josie Vigil, Rose Vigil, Adam Vigil, Charles Vigil, Kadence Marciano; Kelsie Marciano, Kendall Marciano; one great grand-daughter, Aria Nolan; brother, Clarence Vigil and his family- Jeanne, son Michael (Robin)and family, daughter, Tammy Ruiz, and her daughters.

A Rosary will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas School, 1100 Hood Rd. S.E. Rio Rancho on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday May 6, 2023 at 10:30 a.m., St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Rio Rancho, NM.
