Arville Birchfield, 96, of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2026, in Rio Rancho. He was born on November 13, 1929, in Pinsonfork, Kentucky, to William McKinley and Lena Birchfield.
Arville married the love of his life, Betty Ruth (Paynter) Birchfield, on May 22, 1953, in Williamson, West Virginia. They shared 68 years of marriage before her passing.
Arville worked for many years as a mining equipment warehouse manager before retiring after 20 years. He was a longtime member of the Assembly's of God Church and attended various Assembly of God churches throughout the country. In his younger years, Arville enjoyed singing in a Gospel Quartet called the Kin Folk Quartet.
Arville had a great love for the outdoors, especially canoeing and camping. Throughout his life, he made many memorable trips to Quetico Provincial Park in Canada with his brothers, sons, and other family members. His Canadian fishing trips were among his favorite activities, creating many cherished memories with those he loved.
Arville was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Ruth Birchfield; his son, Daniel Keith Birchfield; his granddaughter, Amy Rene Birchfield; his brothers, William McKinley Birchfield Jr.; Hethel Birchfield and Everett Lee Birchfield; and his sister, Pauline Birchfield Carter.
He is survived by his sons, Alan (Melissa) Birchfield of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, and Todd (Veronica) Birchfield of Lake Panasoffkee, Florida; grandchildren, Mary Beth (Mark) Garcia of Beckley, West Virginia, Matthew (Olivia) Birchfield of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, Joshua (Kaylee) Birchfield of Sumpter, South Carolina, and Stephanie Birchfield of Carthage, Missouri; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
Arville will be remembered for his love of family, gathering family and friends for game nights, the outdoors, fishing, camping, and his faith. He leaves behind many cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, October 8, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., followed by Prayer Services at 2:00 p.m. at Daniels Family Funeral – Sara Chapel, 4310 Sara Rd SE, Rio Rancho, NM 87124.
