Barbara Jean Bailie

Barbara Jean Bailie, née Houghton, was born in El Paso, TX on December 24, 1937, to Walter and Margaret Houghton. She passed away on April 27, 2023. She is survived by her twin daughters, Lauri Bailie and Judi Way. Barbara leaves behind four grandchildren, Steven (Hannah), David, Ryan, Diana and two great-grandchildren, twins Michael and Rachael. She is survived by her siblings, Evelyn, Warren, Mary, and Debi. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Bailie, her parents, and her brother Howard. Barbara graduated from Arizona State University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and worked as an accountant for over 45 years. Once she retired, she worked with various organizations in Albuquerque such as Albuquerque Assistance League, Church Women United, PEO Sisterhood and National Federation of Republican Women. Some of her hobbies were reading, solving crossword puzzles, and in her younger years, she enjoyed playing tennis. She called New Mexico her home for 60 years.

The service for Barbara will be held on Monday, June 12, 2023, at 1:00pm at Daniels Family Funeral Services – Wyoming Chapel, 7601 Wyoming Blvd NE. Reception will immediately follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in Barbara’s honor to Animal Humane New Mexico, 615 Virginia St. SE, Albuquerque, NM 87108.
