It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara-Jeanne Gould, age 93, on September 29, 2026.

Barbara was born on June 5th, 1933, to Sanford and Velma LaVoy in Providence, Rhode Island. She was one of nine children, which includes a brother from her mother's previous marriage. After high school, Barbara worked in an office for BIF Industries in Providence while also enrolled in an art class at Brown University.

Barbara met her future husband, Alan, while he was in his second year at Bryant Business College in Providence. They both had a craving for ice cream and would occasionally head for the nearest ice cream parlor. Alan proposed to Barbara in 1956 and they married June 15th, 1957, in Storrs, Connecticut. They recently celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary.

Alan and Barbara moved to New Mexico in the early 1960's. Barbara was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, knitting and gardening. She was also a member of a local garden club. Barbara had the desire to attend nursing school but lacked three courses for acceptance, so she attended Del Norte High School for a semester where her two youngest children also attended during her time there. She obtained those credits and eventually earned her LPN from Albuquerque Technical Vocational Institute / Presbyterian Hospital School of Practical Nursing and was employed by Presbyterian Hospital for a number of years. After retirement, Barbara and Alan traveled both stateside and overseas, as well as keeping busy with hobbies at home.

Barbara was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt and will be deeply missed. Her husband passed away July 31st, 2026. She is survived by her daughters Debra Cushman (Loren) and Cyndi Guthridge (Craig), son Scott Gould, 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, two sisters and numerous nieces and nephews.

We'd like to express our appreciation to Roadrunner Hospice for their compassionate care.
