McSmith, Barbara Ann
Age 80, a lifelong resident of Socorro, NM passed away Thursday, August 6, 2015 in Albuquerque, NM. She was born in Magdalena, NM on December 14, 1934, to John R. and Annie (Johnson) McSmith. Barbara's parents moved to Magdalena during the depression and homesteaded there. She attended school in Socorro and graduated from Socorro High School. Barbara was active in the Republican Party in the early 60's and also active in Civitan and the Eagles. She was a woman of strong faith and a very active member of the First Baptist Church of Socorro.  Barbara was manager of the Golden Manor Motel and also the Super 8 for several years. She and June McSmith owned and operated  Center Hardware for approximately 10 years during the 1980's.  Barbara will greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Marion, Marvin and Paul McSmith; sister-in-laws, June McSmith and Oppie McSmith. Barbara is survived by her sons, Rob Zimmerman and wife, Libby, and Mike Zimmerman and wife, Patti; daughter, Holly Zuni and husband, Harold; grandchildren, Erin Zimmerman, Kayla Zimmerman and Hunter Zuni; and sister-in-law, Clifford McSmith.  Services will be held on Monday, August 10, 2015 at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church, 203 Spring St., Socorro, NM with Pastor Phillip Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Socorro Cemetery.  Pallbearers are Stacey Adams, Jerry Partridge, Harold Zuni, Hunter Zuni, Ray Zimmerman, and Darrell McSmith.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be given to the First Baptist Church, 203 Spring St., Socorro, NM 87801.
