Berla Jaquez Martinez

Berla Jaquez Martinez, 72, a resident of Aztec passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at San Juan Regional Medical Center in Farmington. Berla was born August 6, 1938 to Celestino and Epimienia M. Jaquez in Gallina, New Mexico. Berla is survived by her husband Marcelino "Marcy" Martinez, son Randy (Teresa) Martinez; daughter Brenda (Randy) Flaherty; grandchildren Carissa (Jason) Douglas, Kaci (Kennen) Buddy (Erikka) Katrina (Zach), and Devin; great-granddaughter Adysen and special niece Debbie Archuleta. Berla was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Richard, Gilbert, Eddie and sister Mary, and grandson Justin. Rosary will be Friday, February 18, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 424 Mesa Verde Avenue in Aztec with Pat Sanchez reciting. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, February 19, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 424 Mesa Verde Avenue in Aztec with Father Arley Downey as celebrant. Berla will then be laid to rest at the Aztec Community Cemetery in Aztec. Pallbearers are Buddy Martinez, Devin Flaherty, Jason Douglas, Kennen Ellis, Jeff Martinez, and Eddie Martinez. Honorary pallbearers are Zachary Frohn, Kevin Jaquez, Mark Jaquez and Richard Jaquez. The family wishes to thank Dr. Jeff Neidhart and staff and all the nurses and staff on the 4th Floor of San Juan Regional Medical Center for their love and concern of Berla.
