Bernard D. Pacheco

September 22, 1931 — November 2, 2022

Bernard (Barney) D. Pacheco, loving husband and father, fell asleep in death on November 2, 2022.

He was born September 22, 1931 in the little town of River Rouge, MI on the Detroit River.  He lived there until moving to Riverview, MI where he resided until relocating to Rio Rancho, NM in 1995 with his wife, Barbara.  He is survived by his wife Barbara whom he married June 13, 1970 and children Christopher (Cathy) Pacheco, Beverly (Gary) Beck, Nancy (Mike) Wiley, and Jerilyn (Jack) Hines, along with 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his sons Michael (Linda) Pacheco and Steven (Kim) Pacheco and his 5 brothers and 2 sisters.

Barney loved the water and growing up in Michigan on the Detroit River and Lake Erie, he always had a boat, was an avid swimmer and water skier which he exchanged for his love of driving through the New Mexico mountains.  He also loved spending his time with family and friends, where he was often the host sharing his love of the water by entertaining on his boat and hosting gatherings at his home(s) with Barbara.   Barney always made people feel special and loved, and “that’s a true story”.

Barney was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on December 23, 1973 in Detroit, Michigan and in the past served as an elder and regular pioneer for many years.  One of his greatest loves, after Jehovah and his wife Barbara, was serving the brothers and sisters. Barney especially enjoyed cooking and providing food to brothers and sisters performing work at the Kingdom Halls (Michigan and Rio Rancho). He often asked Jehovah to direct him to any brother or sister in need. Barney spent a great amount of his time sharing his faith, especially after his retirement in 1991.
