Bessie L. Yazzie

Bessie L. Yazzie was born June 4, 1925, in Dennebito Valley, Ariz.. Yazzie was born into the Jemez People and she was born for the Kiiyaa'aanii (Towering House People) Clan. Her nali is Ma'iideeshgiizhnii and Naakaiidine'e (Mexican People) Clan; chei is Todich'ii'nii (Bitter Water People) Clan. She died July 7, 2011, in Payson, Ariz. Bessie was a homemaker, weaver, mother, and grandmother. Survivors include Abigail E. Yazzie of Sanders, Elrene Yazzie of Page, Ariz., sisters, Mary Badonie, Daisy Littleman and Elizabeth Begay; and eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Bessie is preceded in death by her daughter, Marie Yazzie; brothers, Dan R. Yazzie, Teddy R. Yazzie, Frank R. Yazzie, Jimmy Littlesunday, and Ramon Yazzie; and sisters, Eva Manybeads, Darlene Jim, and three other sisters.
