Bettiejane Hastings Haws

Bettiejane (Hastings) Haws, 75, of Farmington passed away Thursday, May 27, 2010 at her home. Bettie was born August 8, 1934 in Pie Town, NM the daughter of James Monroe Hastings and Eda Gertrude (Phillips) Hastings. She moved to Farmington in 1950 and later met and married Otis Paul Haws in 1951 in Farmington and their married was later solemnized in the Mesa LDS Temple in Mesa, Arizona. Bettie was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, quilting, home decorating and grandkids. She was an active and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints holding many leadership and teaching positions. Bettie served three full-time missions for the church. Her greatest love was teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. She is now glad to be reunited with her eternal companion Paul. We will miss her more than words can say, but she is where she wants to be. Bettie is survived by six children; daughters, Patsy Clugston and husband Kenny, Kathy Robbins and husband Ron, Jody Woodson and husband Gerry, Tyra Roquemore and husband Barry, Toni McDonald and husband Bryan, son Tommy Haws and wife Eileen and daughter-in-law Jewel; 30 grandchildren (29 living) 49 and counting great-grandchildren; brothers Manuel Hastings and Roy Hastings; sisters Imogene Keith and Ireta Burnett and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Otis Paul Haws in 1991 and a son Rocky Haws in 1999, brothers James Hastings and Glen Hastings; sisters, Leona Hastings, Marie Robeson, Juanita Guymon and Lula Hastings and a grandchild Jeffery McDonald in 1995. Friends may call Monday, May 31, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home, 103 East Ute St. in Farmington. Funeral services for Bettie will be Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Apache Street Building, 400 W. Apache St. in Farmington with Bishop Carroll Carter conducting. Bettie will then be laid to rest next to her husband at the Kirtland-Fruitland Cemetery in Kirtland, NM. Pallbearers are Neil Haws, Matthew Clugston, Opy Robbins, Jared Woodson, Donald Roquemore, Bryan E. McDonald II, Joshua Haws and Tyler Haws.
