Betty J. Gillette, 85, departed this earthly realm for her anticipated heavenly home on October 22, 2011 peacefully, well tended and loved by many at Life Care Center, her home and extended family for the past nine years. She is proceeded in death by her parents Nettie and Joseph King, her husband John, her sister Doris Martinez. Betty is survived by two daughters Ella Mae Hardin, from Port St Lucie, Florida and Jo Ann Fisk (George), Farmington, four grandchildren, D.J., Teresa, and Davina Hardin and Michelle Lewis (Robert). Great-grandchildren are Roger and Kimberly Hardin, Sierra Bolgrean (Jeff), Derrick and J.P. Crane, Sarrah and Brittany Lewis, and Stephanie Munoz (Jesus) along with seven precious great-great grandchildren. After her husbands death, Betty moved to San Juan County from Sundance, Wyoming to be with her family. A twenty-seven year resident she shared her talents, time and energies with this community through many hours of volunteer services. In 1997 Betty was recognized as Volunteer of the Year by the San Juan College Volunteer Center. Organizational involvements include: New Mexico Long Term Care Ombudsman Program, Senior Companion Program, AARP President, TRIAD, Health Advocate Services, 55 Alive Instructor, ECHO food Bank, Meals on Wheels, Bonnie Dallas Senior Center, Chamber of Commerce. She was President of the Resident Council at Life Care and was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary Order of Eagles in Gillette, Wyoming. Betty enjoyed arts and crafts, flower gardening, animals, reading and creating unique Christmas candies and cookies to share with family and friends among other activities. Her car would never bypass a yard-sale. With her social butterfly personality, Betty endeared herself and touched the hearts of many people. Special in her heart among many who were brought into her life is George, son-in-law extra-ordinaire who became her most appreciated devoted son to her last breath. Words cannot express the love and kindness by which she was blessed and loved all in return�¦ A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at Brewer, Lee & Larkin Funeral Home, 103 East Ute Street, in Farmington. Refreshment s will be served at Life Care Center of Farmington, 1101 W. Murray Dr., following the service.
