Bonnie Harvey, age 99, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2023, in Albuquerque, with family by her side. She was born Betty Yvonne Smith in Las Animas, Colorado in 1923 and was raised in southwest Albuquerque. Bonnie met Bill Harvey, an airman stationed at Kirtland, when she sold him candy in 1941 at the S. H. Kress store in downtown Albuquerque. They were married almost 75 years before Bill passed. Bill and Bonnie raised four children, Ron Harvey, Jerry Harvey, Don Harvey, and Peggy Harvey Luebs. Bonnie is survived by all four children, their spouses (Becky, Pat, Marla, and Roger), 10 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. Family was everything to Bonnie. Bonnie was the homemaker for 42 households as Bill’s Air Force career took the family all over the country for 20 years. They finally returned to Albuquerque in retirement. Bill and Bonnie built a vacation cabin in southern Colorado which became the center of the extended family life that Bonnie loved so much. Bonnie was a creative person; she decorated cakes and painted. She was a fun, active lady; she danced, bowled, fished, and enjoyed games around the dining table and croquet in the yard. She was an outgoing person with a sharp sense of humor that she shared up to the very end.
