Betty Jo (Spence) Scott was born on July 9, 1935, in El Paso, Texas, to O.T. and Alice Faye Spence. She was married to Donald “Buddy” Scott for over 50 years, until his passing on March 17, 2003.
She is survived by her sister, Mary Ann Roe; her son, Michael Scott and wife Gail; her daughter, Cheryl Montoya and husband Ray; her grandchildren, Curtis Scott (Kaila), Nathan Montoya, Nicole Polestra Montoya (Bryan), and Haylee Montoya; her great-grandchildren, Riley Scott, Dustin Scott (Hayden), Daniel Jackson, Solomon Montoya, Theron Montoya, and Siella Polestra; and her great-great-grandson, Levi Scott. She is also survived by her nieces, Carole Richards, Kellie Roe, Pat Lodge, and Gayle Cheverie, and her nephew, Roy McCrary.
She was preceded in death by her beloved granddaughter, Tracy Dawn.
Betty Jo showed us that love is best expressed through action. Whether she was crafting a gift, making blankets, serving at church, or singing in the choir, she brought passion and care to everything she did.
She was a charter and active member of Shepherd of the Valley Presbyterian Church. She also formed a Project Linus group in the North Valley, which she enthusiastically loved, supported, and led for several years.
Betty Jo was a caring and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her legacy of love will continue to live on in all who knew her.
“Honor her for all that her hands have done and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.” — Proverbs 31:31
