WELKER - Betty Jean (Clear) Welker, 88, passed away on Saturday, October 30, 2010. She was born April 22, 1922 in Union City, Indiana to Fred and Pearl Clear. Betty worked for the United Telephone Service of Indiana, and served as senior operator, supervisor and trainer of all facets of communications for Patterson Air Force, 2046th Squadron in Dayton, Ohio. When she and Ken moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1962, she worked in the same capacity for Sandia Base 1960th Communications Squadron. Betty is survived by her only son, Kenneth Larry Welker and his wife Susan; 4 grandchildren , Wendy Rue and husband Sander, Kenly Smith and husband Dallas, Kenneth James Welker and wife Valerie, Angel McGovern and husband K.C.; 10 great-grandchildren, Dallas and Justin Smith, Braden, Madisyn, Sander and Jarryd Rue, Caitlyn, Amy and Connor McGovern, and Desirae Gallardo. She was preceded in death by her husband and childhood sweetheart, Kenneth Earl Welker. They were married September 14, 1941 and remained sweethearts until his death; her parents, Fred and Pearl Clear; two brothers, Edward and Charles Clear.
