Bill H. Hammons, 98, of Aztec, went to be with our heavenly father, August 11, 2010. He was born November 26, 1911 in Duvall, Oklahoma. Bill served in the army in WWII. He was an engineer in the South Pacific and he was a foreman in the 3 C’s. After his military term he was self-employed in the Fort Sumner area. Bill was married to Alpha for 37 years. They moved to the Aztec area in 1966. He was very active in the Aztec Senior Center as well as in the D.A.V. until his health failed. He is greatly loved and will be missed by many. Amen Bill is preceded in death by his wife, Alpha; his parents; brothers, Jake and John Hammons; and granddaughter Jeana Knight. He is survived by his four children, son, Deryl and his wife Annette of Ft. Smith Arkansas; daughters, Judy Lawson and husband Buzz, Dora Mc Quitty and husband Butch, and Linda Faries; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces. Pallbearers are Paul Knight, David Knight, Jarred Hammons, Danny Hammons, Justin Haddon, and Ben Haddon. Honorary pallbearers are Johnny Johnson, Bill Hammons, Gene Hammons, Emory Wallace, and Johnnie Franchini. Donations may be made to Aztec Senior and Civic Center or D.A.V. Unit 9 in Aztec.
