Carol Ann Baltzer

With deep sorrow we announce the passing of Carol Ann (Plott) Baltzer on Friday, July 11, 2025. Her kind smile and genuine laughter will be remembered by all who knew her.

Carol was born in Omaha, NE on August 02, 1936 to Wayne and Emma (Cook) Plott. At nine years of age, her family moved to Deerwood, MN. After graduating from Brainerd High School in 1954 she moved to Omaha where she worked as a secretary for Western Electric. There, she met her future husband, Gary Baltzer.

Carol and Gary married in 1958 and settled in Omaha. Carol dedicated her life to being a mother and homemaker where she nurtured and loved their four children. During her married life she also lived in GA and NM.

The activities that brought joy to Carol’s life were centered around cooking, gardening, oil painting, crafts and nature. She enjoyed participating in various church functions, traveling, entertaining family and friends and her time working at a lamp shop.

Carol is lovingly remembered by her husband Gary Baltzer of Rio Rancho, NM; daughter Pamela Baltzer of Omaha, NE; daughter Wendy and her husband Marty Shaneyfelt of Albuquerque, NM; daughter Abby and her husband Todd Shaneyfelt of Phoenix, AZ; and sister Barbara Anderson of Valrico, FL. She is preceded in death by her son, Gregory Baltzer of Memphis, TN and brother Dale Eugene Plott of Montgomery, IL.

Carol was also blessed with beloved grandsons including Calvin Shaneyfelt and his husband Corbin Mundt of Leawood, KS; Nicholas Shaneyfelt and his wife Katherine of Wheat Ridge, CO; Jake Shaneyfelt of Meridian, ID; Justin Shaneyfelt of Phoenix, AZ; great-grandson Glenn Shaneyfelt of Wheat Ridge, CO; and several nieces, nephews, and a host of loving friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at Haverland Hall in The Neighborhood in Rio Rancho. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given in Carol’s honor to the National Organization for Rare Disorders.
