Carol Ann Johnson, aged 66, devoted wife and mother, passed away on Monday, January 4, 2016 at Lovelace Medical Center in Albuquerque, NM after a brief, unexpected illness. Carol was born October 27, 1949 in Hanover, NH to William and Jane Paul, the third of three daughters. She grew up in Vermont and California and received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of San Francisco in 1971. While in the Bay Area, she met her husband-to-be, Robert Johnson, and they were married on June 19, 1973 in Stanford, CA at the Stanford Memorial Chapel. She worked at the Veterans Administration Hospitals in Palo Alto, Menlo Park, and San Francisco until 1983, when she moved to Albuquerque and worked for the Veterans Administration Medical Center until her retirement in 2008 after 35 years.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Robert Johnson; daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Chad McCall; daughter and son-in-law, Sandy Johnson and Steve Mora; her two sisters, Sally Murphy and Betsey Kirk; brother-in-law Will Kirk; sister-in-law Carol Davy; and brother-in-law James Johnson. She is also survived by her many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
For those that had the pleasure of knowing her, Carol was a smart, witty, compassionate, and beautiful woman who always put the needs and cares of others before her own. She had an extraordinary love for birds, animals, and all things related to cooking. She was incredibly dedicated to her family and was an avid supporter of all her children’s endeavors. She is an irreplaceable part of our family and will be sorely missed everyday.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday January 13, 2016 at 2:00 pm at the Daniels Family Funeral Home Wyoming Chapel at 7601 Wyoming Boulevard NE, Albuquerque, NM 87109. A reception will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to one of her favorite charities, either the Friends of the Bosque Del Apache National Wildlife Refuge or the New Mexico Animal Humane Society.
