Cenaida Cruz Maes August 10, 1953 – June 16, 2025
Cenaida Cruz Maes was born in Fowler, Colorado, on August 10, 1953, and passed away peacefully on June 16, 2025, in her home in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, surrounded by her loving family.
She is survived by her devoted husband, William Maes, and their four children: John Maes and his son, Juan Carlos Maes; Christopher Maes; Jessica Dusseau and her husband, Craig, and their children, Aiden, Ashton, and Carson; and Mario Maes.
She is also survived by her sister, Betty Delgado; her brother, Abel Cruz, and his wife, Jerri; along with many beloved nieces and nephews.
Cenaida was preceded in death by her mother, Flora Cruz; father, Abel Cruz; sister, Nancy Williams, and her husband, Willie Williams; brother, Billy Cruz; granddaughter, Jennifer Maes; and three special nieces, Tina, Vicky, and Angel.
Known for her humor, kindness, thoughtfulness, and generosity, Cenaida touched the lives of everyone who knew her. She was a devoted grandmother who cherished her grandchildren deeply and never missed a special event, whether a baseball game, concert, or school celebration. Her presence was a constant source of love and encouragement in their lives.
She had many special friends in her life whom she cherished deeply. Father Vincent Chavez held a special place in her heart, as did Elaine Romero-Gallegos, with whom she shared an unwavering lifelong friendship.
Cenaida’s legacy is one of deep family devotion, laughter, and unwavering love. She will be missed beyond words and forever remembered in the hearts of those who loved her.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate Red Willow Hospice team, Melissa, Katrina, and Victoria, whose unwavering support and kindness brought comfort and peace to Cenaida and to all of us during her final days.
