Chancer Lee Smith Lafonté Dubois”, born April 1st, 1935, in Fort Wayne, IN, has departed to heaven on June 8th, 2023 in Albuquerque, NM.  He was preceded by his mother and father, Louise and Luther Smith; brothers, Jack Smith, Billy Smith, Luther Smith Jr.; sister, Rev. Debora L. Smith Weidner; daughter, Monique Smith; and grandchildren, Mark Andrew Jr. Velasquez, Sarah Dubois, and DeAndre Smith. He is remembered by many children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, friends, and loved ones.

Chancer fought for our country serving in the US Army during the Korean War. Throughout his whole life, he was well known for his amazing talents in the kitchen. He was a proud owner of a BBQ Restaurant in Indiana; he even had the honor of cooking for the legend BB King and loved sharing his food during his travels around the world. He loved to serve his community, and was always willing to lend a helping hand! He will be remembered by his beautiful music, delicious barbecue sauce, and wonderful stories he would love to tell. He will be missed tremendously by his loved ones and we will carry on his legacy and lessons with us forever.

Viewing will be held on June 28th, 2023, at Daniels Funeral Home off Wyoming, in Albuquerque, NM from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. followed by the burial at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM at 2 p.m.
