Charles (Chuck) Elijah Beverley, 93

Albuquerque, NM January 5, 1933 – January 8, 2026

Chuck, our patriarch and quiet superhero, passed away peacefully with his devoted daughter and caregiver, Lori, by his side. Born in Jetersville (Richmond), Virginia, he enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1950 and proudly served at postings along the Continental Divide, Colorado Springs, Germany, Iceland, and Albuquerque, where the family settled following his retirement. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 71 years, g. Trudy Encinias Beverley; his parents, Fred Elijah Beverley and Anna Lee Beverley; and his siblings, Alice Lee and Hoy Beverley (Tish).

Chuck is survived by his six children: Charlie, Karen, Larry, Roni Worm (Tom), Lori, and Chrysty Fortner (Tracey); his grandchildren, Christopher, Brian, Michael, Marcus, Samantha, William, and Nathan; his great-grandchildren, Oliver and Haydyn; his sisters, Charlotte and Jean (Ted); his brother-in-law, Philip (Susan); and his beloved nieces and nephews who adored their Uncle Chuck.

While in the military, Chuck worked a second job and put himself through college, all while raising six children on airman’s pay—always striving to better himself for the sake of his family. He attended John Marshall High School in Richmond, Class of 1951, and later earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Albuquerque in 1971.

Beyond his deep devotion to family, Chuck found great pride and joy in restoring classic British automobiles, a passion he pursued for many years. He was especially proud of his Jaguar 1953 Mark VII and remained an active member of the British Automobile Owners Association until recent years. Winning trophies and awards at car shows was simply the icing on the cake.

In 1977, Chuck became a private pilot and delighted in flying his Beechcraft on trips across the country. An avid fisherman and hunter, he made sure all his children learned the skills, self-reliance, and respect for the land that life in New Mexico’s high desert demands.

Some of the family’s fondest memories were made at the cabin in Jemez Springs and, most memorably, at Conchas Lake and the Butte—shared with lifelong friends—along with a joyful mix of kids, boats, campers, dogs, and the unforgettable chaos that came with them.

Retiring as a Senior Master Sergeant from United States Air Force in 1970, Chuck embarked on a successful post-military career as an industrial engineer, working for both Singer Business Machines and Digital Equipment Corporation. Together, Chuck and Trudy also owned and operated the Los Ojos Restaurant & Saloon in Jemez Springs throughout the 1980s and 1990s.

In retirement, they embraced their love of travel, exploring the world through the Friendship Force and with friends and family. Their journeys took them to dozens of countries—making lifelong friends and treasured memories along the way.

Chuck and Trudy were founding members of Risen Savior Catholic Community, where they faithfully served for more than forty years in a variety of ministries, including the Eucharistic ministry, with Chuck also serving as Head Usher.

He leaves behind a grateful family and a host of friends who will deeply miss his charm, warmth, and quick wit.

Honorary Pallbearers: Grandchildren Christopher Hutchison, Brian Hutchison, Michael Worm, Marcus Flint, Samantha Worm, William Worm, and Nathan Flint.

The family extends special thanks to the caregivers from Missionary Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament, Amber, Ella, and Nurse Stephanie from Corus Hospice, who supported the family and lovingly walked alongside Chuck on this journey.
