Charles Vernon Holm

Charles Vernon Holm (Chuck), age 70, passed away on March 3, 2024. He is preceded in death by his father Charles Fenton Holm, his mother Lois B. Holm, and older brother John Frederick Holm (Jack).


Born August 6, 1953, in Gallup, NM, Chuck was youngest of four children John, Anchor, and Rosemary. He attended primary grades in Winslow, AZ, and graduated from high school in Holbrook, AZ. He joined the United States Navy in 1974 and served for six years. He was a nuclear reactor operator on the USS Bainbridge (CGN-25) and attained the rank of First Class Petty Officer.


After completing his military service, Chuck attended Memphis State University while working in the Center for Nuclear Studies, graduating cum laude in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology. After college, Chuck joined Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque NM, where he worked until retirement.


Chuck is survived by his brother Jack Holm's children Scott and Matthew; his brother Anchor Holm and wife Michelle and their children Christopher, Michael and wife Ann, James and wife Leanne, and Andrea and husband Douglas; his sister Rosemary Holm and husband Brent Daniel and their children Loren, Sara, Jenus and wife Amanda, and Nathan; twenty-one grand-nieces and grand-nephews, and many extended family members and friends. Chuck and his beloved pugs Angel and April were seldom separated until his passing. He enjoyed camping and fishing with family and friends, and was known as Handyman Extraordinaire to all. In lieu of flowers, Chuck's family ask that donations be made in his name to the American Cancer Society, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
