Charles David Lopez

Charles (Chuck) Lopez passed away unexpectedly at home on Good Friday, April 3, 2026. Chuck was born April 7, 1955, in Albuquerque, NM, to Manuel Lopez and Gloria Rubio Lopez.

For several years, he fought a courageous battle with kidney disease, enduring multiple weekly dialysis treatments. Through it all he maintained his cheerful spirit.

Chuck is survived by his loving wife Cynthia (Cindy) Moya Lopez of 29 years; his sisters, Gloria “Gogi” Romero (Manny), Mona Gabaldon (Herman), and his brother Joseph Lopez; his Stepmother, JoAnn Lopez, and his mother-in-law Florence LeDoux Moya.

He is also survived by a loving extended family—including brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends—who will always hold his memory dear.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Bea Lopez and Lupe Hanes, his brother Frank, and his father-in-law Triny E. Moya.

Chuck was a caring and devoted husband, son, brother, and friend. His presence will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who knew and loved him.

Chuck dedicated many years to leading the Barela’s Las Posadas celebrations, organizing the Sacred Heart fiestas, and gathering donations for every successful occasion. He worked for Garcias Funeral Home, Coors Distributing Company, and the City of Albuquerque Bus Transportation.

A Visitation, Rosary, and Scriptural Service will be on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at Daniels Family Funerals Wyoming Chapel, 7601 Wyoming Blvd NE, Albuquerque, 87109. The Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by the Rosary at 10:30 a.m. and a Scriptural Service at 11:00 a.m. The reception will be at 12:30 p.m. at the Shrine of St. Bernadette Parish Hall, 11401 Indian School Rd., NE, Albuquerque, NM 87112.

A private family burial will take place at a later date.
