Charles E. “Chuck” McGee, 64, of Aztec passed away on November 23, 2010. Chuck was a lifelong resident of Aztec and served the citizens of San Juan County in many capacities. As a public servant, Chuck served in numerous positions with the San Juan County Sheriff’s Department including protecting his community as a deputy before retiring from the force. Chuck also served as a volunteer fireman in the Aztec fire department and as an officer with the Aztec police department earlier in his career. Chuck is survived by his son, Robert “Doug” McGee, daughter-in-law Donna McGee, grandchildren Collin and Megan McGee all of Lindale, Texas. He was also survived by his sister, Kay McGee of Mesa, Arizona and two nieces Kathy LaDue of Mesa, Arizona and Samanatha Ozaeta of Roosevelt, Arizona as well as three grand nephews Damian, Zander and Mason and two grand nieces, Vilet and Elektra. Chuck was also blessed to have numerous friends that he considered to be family. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents Charles “Cecil” and Maybelle McGee of Aztec. A memorial service and celebration of Chuck’s life will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Aztec on Saturday, December 11, 2010 at 2:00pm, officiated by the Pastor Jeff Symonds. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the First United Methodist Church of Aztec. Chuck is in the care of: Cope Memorial Chapel
